Cuyahoga Falls – Public Library Phase 2 Renovation

CBLH Design was commissioned to create a multi-year master plan for renovation and additions. Phase 1 of the master plan was completed by CBLH prior to this phase.

The second phase of the library renovation focuses on consolidating adult services and related spaces on the upper level of the facility. The design is organized around an open space that connects large windows at the north and south ends of the building.

Reference services, designed as “Pods”, are located at the center of the building and have a visual connection to all spaces. The “Pods” were designed as approachable service points that promote interaction between reference staff and patrons. Large amounts of glass maintain the visual connection throughout the space with enclosed rooms for Periodicals, Teens and a Computer Lab.

Sustainable concepts were used throughout the project. Interior finishes and furniture were selected to meet LEED requirements. Electrical lighting controls were used to reduce energy consumption and for day-lighting strategies. The mechanical system was updated to function more efficiently.
