Cuyahoga County Public Library - Solon Branch

CBLH Design just completed the design for addition and renovation of the Cuyahoga County Public Library Solon Branch.

The new addition houses children programming spaces such as story time, crafts and a play area. A glass wall between the play area and the story time room allows for passive observation of both areas for parents.

With this new addition, more space throughout the library became available for other library functions. To alleviate congestion in the lobby, the team designed a larger entry space with displays for new books and self-checkout systems. The existing circulation desk was being removed and replaced with a smaller service point near the self-checkout. In an effort to consolidate and maximize efficiency, one service point collocated at the adult, teen’s and children’s areas was designed to serve those respected areas.

Lastly, the design allows for a reorganization of soft seating near the existing fire place. This space acts as the library’s living room to provide a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
