Ritter Public Library
Vermilion, Ohio
CBLH Design provided architectural and engineering services for the Ritter Public Library to perform an analysis of the existing physical plant as well as develop a Program of Service for the expansion and renovation of the Library to better serve the Vermilion community. The physical plant assessment included surveying two existing buildings architecturally as well as systematically. Our team included mechanical, electrical and structural engineers. Each surveyed the building to assess needed improvements or repairs.

The development of the Program of Service included interviewing all service departments to gain a full understanding of their task within the Library. The existing collection was surveyed so that growth factors could be applied to the collections in determining needed space for the future.
From the Program of Service, conceptual floor plan sketches were developed to give the Library and its Board an understanding of how spaces could be arranged to allow for the ideal flow of materials and information. These materials are being used by the Library Board to determine if the community will support the project.
