Wade Park Facility - Open Parking Structure
The Department of Veterans Affairs - Louis Stokes Medical Center is located in the University Circle District of the City of Cleveland. With the Medical Center's staff and patient volume, its location within an urban environment and the need for land for expansion, an open parking structure was developed. CBLH designed this new parking structure which has space for 800 cars. Much of the prime parking space is dedicated to handicapped parking to service the high volume of outpatient services that are provided by the VA Medical Center.

| Construction Cost: | $11,200,000 |

The structure was the first of several major projects on the campus and was required to free up surface parking lots to allow for building expansions. The garage was designed to accept a pedestrian bridge that was built later in the Ambulatory Care Addition project.
Another unique feature of the garage's design is its ability to expand. Three elevator shafts were constructed, but only two were fitted with cabs. A third cab can be easily located within the extra shaft. The garage is also designed and sited to expand horizontally and vertically.
