Wade Park Facility - Critical Care Unit
CBLH Design worked with staff and administration to design the 16-bed Critical Care Unit Addition. Amenities include centralized nurse stations and staff support areas. Nurse alcoves with observation windows were designed outside of the patient rooms in an effort to place the medical staff closer to the patient. Four of the patient treatment rooms were designed as isolation rooms accessible from one ante room for each pair. All patient rooms have large windows with provisions for light control devices.

| Area of Project: | 29,000 SF Addition 6,700 SF Renovation 35,700 SF Total (includes 13,000 SF ICU on 2nd floor and mechanical/shell space in basement and 1st floor) |
| Construction Cost: | $5,850,000 |

The patient treatment areas were placed in the addition portion of the project, allowing for maximum flexibility in design and re-use in future renovations. The medical staff and general staff support spaces were designed in a renovated area, where existing building constraints were greater.
Since the majority of patient services related to the Critical Care Unit are on the second floor, this unit needed to be there as well, leaving the first floor and basement unprogrammed. In an effort to utilize the basement all mechanical and electrical equipment for the project was placed in the basement.
