Cleveland State University
East Parking Garage

Cleveland, Ohio

CBLH Design is a member of the design team lead by the structural engineering firm Barber and Hoffman that designed the new East Garage for Cleveland State University. Our role in this project was to provide architectural design services related to the "cladding" of the required structural system for the garage.

The 400-car garage is located adjacent to the University's new Recreation Center and Fenn Tower, which is being renovated for use as student housing. The garage will directly serve both buildings' occupants through the use of permitted parking and controlled general public parking.

Garage Capacity: 400 Cars
Construction Cost: $6,800,000

Cleveland State University East Parking Garage/Recreation Center

The garage is a post-tensioned poured-in-place concrete structure. Design elements include brick piers, metal panels and glass curtain wall that compliments the Recreation Center's materials. The University had particular demands on the design team of creating an open feel that allows for passive security while still screening the parked cars from the street.
