Plain Dealer Lakefront
Design Competition
Cleveland, Ohio
In 2003, CBLH Design submitted a design to The Plain Dealer's Lakefront Design Competition. The competition was open to local design professionals to propose new ideas to revitalize Cleveland's waterfront. The driving concept for the design was to develop diverse situations along the waterfront by creating a variety of spaces, buildings and social activities thus making the waterfront a more vibrant place to live and visit. By means of a range of building types, including mixed-use residential buildings, an assortment of uses can be created in a small, self-supporting, 24-hour environment much like that of the Warehouse District. A variety of small to large green spaces offers social interaction while different edge conditions by the lake provide various opportunities to enjoy the water.

A city is defined by the people who live there; and the waterfront has been designed in a way to attract people to the lakefront, provide opportunities for them to live in or visit downtown and enhance the enjoyment of the city for all.
