Cuyahoga County Public Library
Solon Library Branch

CBLH Design is currently working with Cuyahoga County Public Library for the addition and renovation of the Solon Branch.

The new addition will house children programming spaces such as story time, crafts and a play area.  One design concept is to create a glass wall between the play area and the story time room to allow for passive observation of both areas for parents.

With this new addition proposed, more space throughout the library becomes available for other library functions.  To alleviate congestion in the lobby, the team is designing a larger entry space with displays for new books and self checkout systems.  The existing circulation desk is being removed and replaced with a smaller service point near the self checkout.  In an effort to consolidate and maximize efficiency, one service point collocated at the adult, teen’s and children’s areas will serve those respected areas.

Lastly, the design allows for a reorganization of soft seating near the existing fire place.  This space acts as the library’s living room to provide a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
