CBLH Design Holds Vendor Showcase and “An Introduction to EBD and EDAC” Seminar

CBLH Design, the first and only EDAC Advocate Firm based in the State of Ohio, held an event for the healthcare community in the greater Cleveland area this past May.  The event was centered on a vendor showcase.  Eleven healthcare vendors ranging from patient headwalls to furniture, helipads to patient lifts were invited to set up displays at the offices of CBLH Design for review by facility directors and executives, engineers and construction managers.  Those who stopped by enjoyed lunch right off the grill, raffle prizes and time spent talking about the healthcare industry.

During the showcase, three of CBLH Design’s EDAC professionals presented a seminar about Evidence-Based Design and EDAC.  Tim Hunsicker (Principal) spoke about how Evidence-Based Design impacts the design process within their firm.  Natalie Symon (Associate, Interior Designer) provided a review of a sample project that incorporated EBD.  Emily Kantz (Interior Designer) closed the seminar explaining how someone can become EDAC accredited and the benefits of being active in that community.

The Center for Health Design defines Evidenced Based Design as “The process of basing decisions about the built environment on credible research to achieve the best possible outcomes.”

Not only is the goal to improve clinical outcomes but also enhance the environment for families who play a vital role in the healing process, and to improve the process of healthcare delivery by medical staff and physicians.

As an advocate firm, CBLH Design takes its responsibility for educating the local healthcare community seriously.  This event was an intentional step in bringing the Northern Ohio healthcare community together to implement design that promotes a healing environment.  If you would like to know more about Evidence Based Design or becoming EDAC accredited contact CBLH Design.
